An image of the new space

Taken as a whole, the room performs precisely the function for which it was prescribed - light, air, rest, and the quiet, ordered occupation of a mind that the expedition left considerably less ordered than it found it. I set down these thirteen small accounts not because I believe a sunroom to be remarkable, but because I have found, in the weeks since its completion, that I no longer entirely trust myself to remember why it was built — and a record, however modest, seemed to me the only honest defense against that particular kind of forgetting.
